At the moment we are using some volunteers who are in the the Kyunga district, as the volunteers in Kampala were all looking for some type of payment. At the moment we have not raised enough funds for this, so the local volunteers were happy to use their free time.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who came along to the meeting at Hotel Africana.  We had over 170 people show and now we have our co-ordinator out there Adam, who has rounded up a few who are ready to get their hand dirty.

We are now in the process of finding ways to raise funds to start the building of the school in Uganda.  So please bare with us as we arrange things and get Africa's Forgotten People some funds.

Meeting 3rd May 2010

Africas Forgotten People will be holding a meeting at the Hotel Africana on the 3rd of May 2010.  2pm - 6pm for all volunteers.

At the meeting you will find out exactly what opportunities are available and when Africas Forgotten People will be starting building.  Their will be speakers there from Uganda. This will be a fantastic day.  See you there.

Seminar in Kampala

Africa's Forgotten People, will be holding a seminar shortly in Uganda. In the city of Kampala.  All who have registered to become volunteers will be sent information.  We will be holding the seminar to raise funds for the projects.

Uganda have many influential business men and women.  We will be tapping into them for their contribution towards their country.  If you have not already left your details as a volunteer please do so on the right.

Volunteer Workers

We are looking for volunteer workers to help build a new town for the people of Uganda, in East Africa. Volunteer to work in Africa and help to build a charity village.  

We have started the process already, we are a non government organisation. Uganda is a beautiful place but many of the people have been forgotten.  Your help is needed, whether it be in helping to physically build the school, church, sports academy and lots more, or whether it is to help teach the people, the children the farmers, whether you be a qualified nurse or doctor to help within the clinic we will be building.  All volunteer work will be very much appreciated.

We all love to give to charity, now we want to build a charity village for the people of East Africa Uganda.

Appeal

We are in the process of making a trip to Uganda.  We are looking to start the site preparation. For all those who have given us their names for volunteer work we will be contacting you soon with more details.  For all those who are interested in getting involved please feel free to leave us your details on the right hand side.

The land preparation is the first thing we are going go do which we would be happy to receive all the help possible with, this will take around 7 days to grade.  Once this is done, we will be starting on another important project, the school.

Our plan is to finish the construction of a couple of houses on the land, then start the preparation for the building of a school for 250 pupils ranging from the ages of 3 years to 17 years.  We will be in the process of also looking for teachers in the near future. We have been putting the plans together and getting the figures correct.  Now we are ready to find as many volunteers as possible.  The school will will have a multi purpose hall attached to it, for use of evening classes, church services and educating the farmers.

Each of these other uses will have their own facility in the future.

Come along and make a difference in others peoples lives, whilst you are learning.  Give hope and happiness to those who have been forgotten.  These people are very grateful for all the help that you can give to them.

Problem Statement.

Africa's forgotten people – Uganda Chapter (A.F.P.U) is an organization committed to supporting the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of pregnant mothers, farmers, children and the whole community  created mainly by illiteracy, diseases, poverty and other natural or man made calamities. The organization will build a centre at Baale in Kayunga District to carter for 250 children, 100 men and 100 women from the Baale region of Kayunga among other 56 districts of Uganda. The centre is currently in the early stages of development. Although institutional approaches to care and support have proven ineffective, Africa's Forgotten People will provide support to only the vulnerable children whose families have perished or dropped out of school due to HIV and AIDS scourge and those whose families are untraceable. Furthermore the center will provide training in different farming methods and provide better health facilities. The project provides a transitional period of institutional care during which peer-group living arrangement is strongly promoted.

 

Currently there is an estimated 1.8 million orphaned children in Uganda largely due to disease, poverty and illiteracy (Children n the Brink 2000). In addition, the socio-economic effects of HIV/AIDS led to the creation of another category of children referred to as vulnerable. These children are subjected to an environment that affects their physical, mental and psychological well-being. A majority of these children live below the poverty line and have very limited access to health care. The child mortality rate is high because of preventable diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria and immunization rates are declining due to lack of better health centers. Furthermore, children who live with poverty and with families suffering and dying from HIV/AIDS are prone to psychosocial problems.

 

The children have been referred to the centre through the administrative officers and probation and welfare officers from in and around the Baale region as well as care institutions in the district of Kayunga.

 

To prepare the future prospects of these vulnerable children, school dropouts, farmers and pregnant mothers, it is essential that they receive effective education including training in life skills and vocational opportunity. This will not only help them survive, but will also provide them with a sense of meaning and identity, employment and better health facilities. Africa's Forgotten People – Uganda Chapter is to establish a centre to provide these services for the children, farmers and pregnant mothers. The centre does not only cater for the referred vulnerable children but also provides skills training services to other needy children living around Baale region in Kayunga district.

 

Buildings will be erected on the piece of land to provide emergency shelter and training facilities for the community. The centre will provide food to feed the orphans but requires resources to provide training facilities like buildings.

Uganda

I have arrived back in Uganda.  I will be working on the land to see what can be created with the resources that I have.

Once I have had a look around at the progress of the land, I will be posting photos, so those of you who have donated funds via the paypal service on my blog, will have  chance to see what has been done, with the donations.

YOU AND I CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

At the moment, I am in Holland reason being the country is well know for its FRIESEIN COWS that produce a large some of milk. I am spending time with family and friends. Whilst I am here, there are people on the land which I am developing, who are taking care of things. They are milking the cows on a daily basis. The workers on the farm, then use the milk for themselves, and their children. They don't get alot of milk the cows are local breeds and they are of poor quality. 28 cows produce per day around 40 litres of milk. The workers on the farm, then take the rest of the milk which is left over and sell this to buy food.My plan is to transform into a place of opportunities to change the lives of THE AFRICA`S FORGOTTEN PEOPLE,of which you will be part of as i will be taking you through my publishing blog.

Most of the people on the farmland around the area live like this on a daily basis. The children, run around barefooted undernourished and without enough clothes no basic needs. The parents have no access to a better life for themselves or their children i.e Education.family planning,Health care etc.

There is a vast amount of land, which I am using to develop to help the people in the area, Baale Kokotero Kayunga District, in Uganda.

Your Help is Needed.

Many people in the world do their best to help third world countries. The problem that most of us find, is that we are never in charge of allocating the funds which are raised. I have decided to build my own foundation, as a Ugandan, to help the people of Uganda. There are many forgotten parts in this world, many donations do not go into the hands of those who truly need it.

I have decided to help others as much as possible. I am looking for People like yourselves to help create a new town for the community, which include, farmers, children, the elderly, orphans, disabled etc. I myself am dedicating a few acres to this project of mine. I am looking to establish this town for thousands of people who at this present time, still live in mud huts, have no school system, no training institution for the farmers,no running water, miles to travel for water, no hospital, and most importantly for many Ugandans, these people have no place of worship.

The area which I have dedicated for this new development is a farming area. The farmers are not educated on farming, therefore there needs to be some kind of on going training to enable them to apply modern farming methods. Most of the farms around this area are well known for their, beef and milk cattle, which is in great need of help for the production of beef and milk.

All of the children in this area are lacking basic education, as there are no schools in the area. I want us to help these children by building a small school on part of the land. Once the children are educated this will help them to continue with the work on the farm with their families, and also it will help to create a better living environment.

The area is in need of a hospital. There are no facilities around for medical treatments. Women give birth in their homes with the local nurse. Some give birth on the roadsides. Many people become ill due to lack of treatment and die due to no treatment. The training facility will also give people the basic training in care. Many women also abandon their children due to the lack of resources and family planning.

I am looking for any amount of donations, on a regular basis, to help me to start and maintain this project. The opportunity will also be there for donators to come to Uganda and get involved personally. Your help will be appreciated by the community. You will watch this development grow, you will see where your donation is going. This will be your personal project. This is a direct help towards changing the lives of the forgotten people. Once this project is completed we will move onto other parts of Africa.
